People are often looking for online earning opportunities. If you wish to quit your day job one day then make sure you dip your toe in the water before jumping in. It does take some commitment and work to start earning online, but a lot of people have been doing it so why not try? You can focus on one single technique or multiple ones at a time and see what works best for you.

1. Sell Pictures on Stock Photography Sites

If you have a camera that can take pictures and upload them online then that's already a good way to get started earning online. There are sites out there that will pay you a share when their customers buy your photos. Some of those sites include  Fotolia, Dreamstine, Shutterstock, and Big Stock Photo.

2. Become a Freelance writer

Becoming a freelance writer is a very feasible and attractive way to be earning online. Some advantages of being a freelance writer is that you don't need to setup a blog or website to make money, and you are not limited to writing into a particular field, you can write on just about any subject you want  Two sites that I suggest you join for freelance writing include; ehow and hubpages : once you join and publish an article, they will pay you on a productivity rate, meaning that the more pageviews and traffic you get, the more money you will make. Another advantage of being a freelance writer is that you don't need to be a "good" writer, or even speak English very well! (although it's a plus). In fact, the key to making money by freelance writing is to write lightning fast articles and a lot of them (quantity is much better than quantity). One effective strategy is to write articles aimed around low competition keywords. More on this will come soon...

3. Start your own Blog

Blogging has become a popular way to make money online. What makes you money when blogging is the amount of pageviews and unique visitors your blog gets - the more you have, the more advertising revenue and affiliate sales you get. Before starting a blog, you should think clearly about what specific subject you want your blog to be, because "general" blogs tend to do awfully bad when it comes to getting clicks and affiliate sales. Blogging does take some effort and time but in the long run it could be well worth it as you have total control. A good blogger should also have a basic understanding of seo.

4. Selling your eBook

An eBook is an information product that people purchase and then download online, receiving their product immediately. The advantage of having an ebook is that you don't need to get your own traffic in order to make money. You keep a share the of the money for every sale, while the referrers get theirs. Having an eBook usually works best in conjunction with a blog or website, because if your eBook is good, referrers will keep sending you free traffic, and you can benefit from that even if they don't initially buy the book. A good way to sell eBooks is through Clickbank

5. Selling on Ebay

Another way to start earning online is by selling through ebay. Here you can initially start by selling your junk and other items not used around the house. When you acquire enough experience you can then start buying products in bulk from manufacturers and resell them for a profit.

6. Buying cheap advertising

A less common known way to start earning online is by spotting cheap or underpriced advertising slots and placing affiliate links into them..or even your adsense code! to make a profit. You can also start ppc(pay per click) advertising campaigns to promote affiliates. This method is the fastest way to make money online but also the riskiest one since you can loose money if you don't know what you're doing.

There are certainly more online earning opportunities than the ones mentioned above, but I found these to be the most simple and accessible ones. While some paid survey survey sites and other "paid to" sites might as well bring in some extra dollars, they are an ineffective way to use your time - you would be making more money doing other things. Whatever route you decide to go, good luck!

Oh and if you know of any more meaningful online earning opportunities please share them!

Hey guys, two posts ago I was telling you that I think I discovered something about getting search engine traffic and would try it up the post after (last post). So If last post seemed a bit strange because I talked about blogging tips that most of you already know, well I have to say that I didin't write it for my current readers or subscribers!

Nope, I wrote it for people that would be searching for certain keywords on search engines. So how did it go? Well my results of the last post were so-so I can say. I initially wanted to rank in the top 10 for a keyword that is searched more than a thousand times a month in search engines but for some reason I ranked at number 63 in the google search engine and with better results in the Yahoo search engine but still far away from that top 10.

But I can call it a semi-success though right? At least I did get featured in the search engines and it was my first real attempt. So I am going to continue this interesting experiment that already produced somehwhat results. Although that I doubt that I well get more than 5 unique visitors a month from that position in the search rankings, it was nice to know that I actually got on there!

Trial and error is just part of the process of making money online in my opinion, and if you fail or don't get the wanted results that you hoped for, you have to learn out of that experience on what went wrong and why did you not reach your goals and adapt yourself to succeed next time. I think that most people that quit on trying to make money online is because they don't try to understand their insuccess(es) and don't think further. I think that most of the successfull bloggers out there did have a hard time achieving success.

So anyway, as my first experiment with trying to get a post featured in search engines was a half success if I can call it that, I still need to learn more about it and as soon as I fully get the hang of it I will write an extensive post on how to get listed in those search engines by targetting keywords that have less competition + that I'll be slowly getting more visitors and money too! So If you don't mind, the next two, three or maybe even four next posts will be basically written for those people that are looking for specific terms in search engines. The posts I will write might not follow the logical order of the posts in this blog or the posts might even be about topics I already covered or that you already know, so bear in mind that if you get bored over the next 2-3 posts (4 max), don't panick, as you will know for what purpose they are ;) . If you happen to read those posts then you can still comment, comments are always welcome and I believe that comments might be good for search engine rankings aswell. But that's not all . . . . . .

YOU!! can Participate in this Experiment too!!@@@@@

Yes that's right!, If you have a blog about a specific "niche" subject then you too can participate in this experiment and I'd be glad to include you in it. What I will try to do is try to rank your own blog post in the top 5 or top 10 of google by giving you specific guidelines on what to write about your next post; ex. what title you should use, what your first or second sentence should be, what specific keywords you should use through out the text and what tags you should put, etc so you get to be ranked in the top 5 or top 10 of the search listings for a specific keyword. But don't expect miraculous results! I will be trying to put you in top 5 or top 10 keywords that have rather low competition in terms of websites competing for those keywords, I will be targetting keywords that get around 200 to 500 searches a month, and if things go perfectly then you should be getting 5 to 20 visitors a day everyday for a long time to come. That's the whole point of the experiment. If one single well targeted article can bring in those numbers of consistent visitors, then writing tens and even hundreds of articles in the same way would have dramatic results on your traffic and income!

So anyway, to participate in my search engine traffic experiment all you will have to do is to reply to this post and tell me what kind of blog you have about what particular subject as well as the blog URL (address) and I will then go check it out and do a little bit of research and once I know what to do, I will give you instructions on how to write your post. I will do the keyword and competition research for you once you've told me that you'd like to be part of this experiment, and entering is free of course. The higher your blog's pagerank, the more chances of success I think we should have into geting your blog listed high in the rankings, but even if your pagerank is 0, I will still try to work it out... well I don't even know myself what the results will be but anyway :). Also If you have Google Analytics implemented on your blog, I'd ask you to keep an eye open on traffic comming on your site, or if you don't have that then perhaps you can add a visitor counter or something to track new visitors. And if you have any comments about your result(s) good or bad, then you can tell me how it went or in comments, as I will publish them along with my own results of this experiment in the period of 3 or 4 posts; roughly 1 week to 1 week and a half max.

If you want to participate in this experiment then please say so by leaving a comment and about which one of your blogs - I suggest the one with highest pagerank. I will be willing to help out and give seo instructions for 5 different blogs or not too many more. The instructions will be sent out on your blog's comments or email if you provide me your email. So any volunteers yet? Cheers! For any comments or questions don't be shy, just ask and I will answer

So you heard left and right of people that are making money blogging? Do you want to know how to start blogging for money? We'll it's not that complicated, with patience and effort as well as some understanding, making a part time or full time income out fo blogging is fully achievable. If you are thinking about starting a blog or already started one but aren't making much then read on.

The business model of a blog works just like that of TV stations, newspapers and magazines; the bigger the audience, the more advertising revenue they get. So what blogging for money really comes down to is getting a large audience in order to get more ad exposure and impressions. Implementing advertising on a blog is not complicated and I recommend using Google Adsense to deliver advertising space on your blog. Once you sign up for it implementing is easy, all you have to do is choose your ad layout, copy/paste some bit of code and you're done!

Once you implement those ads, you will need visitors or you won't make many dollars at all. The ammount of money you make with google adsense and other ad networks is directly proportional to the ammount of visitors you get since more ad exposure equals more potential clicks and therofore money.

Choosing a Topic to Write About

When starting a blog to make money, deciding on the topic to write about is an important decision. In most cases on the internet, there is competition on all topics and subjects, so no matter what subject you pick, there usually will be at least some degree of competition. Now some people people prefer to start a blog about general every-day things or what is on their minds. I haven't personally started a blog of that type myself, but what I know about it is that you need many more visitors in that type of blog than in a specific "niche" type of blog in order to achieve the same revenue from ads. This is because everybody that visits that certain blog might have different interests from one another and therefore the ad that is displayed on the general blog will not appeal to everyone and will get clicked far less than the specific "niche" type of blog, where everyone comes to find out about something in particular, let's say tennis... Then niche blog's ads will get far more clicks, because presuming the ads are about tennis, then they would appeal to almost all the readers on the niche blog. And from what I've seen from others, a general blog would need at least 5 times more readers than a niche blog to match it's income. This being said, I recommend you go with a niche blog and that you write about something you like and are passionate about since it will be much easier to write and will almost not seem like work but fun!

If you are just starting out then good luck! - I hope that this reading answered some of your questions about how to start blogging for money. One of the things missing from this blog is search engine traffic. A blog or website without much search engine traffic is usually one that does not produce much income. Now the numerous articles that I read keep on telling me how to optimize my blog for search engines, the tips that come out most often are the following

  • Focus your text on a specific keyword or set of keywords along with using synonims of those keywords
  • Have your domain name or subdomain contain your keyword in it: ex a cars blog to have the word "car" in it's domain or subdomain. When surfing the web and doing my searches, I have found that this helps alot, and especially with new blogs/websites.
  • Have the keyword you are targetting put in the Title of your post
  • Have your targeted keyword at least once within the first two senteces of the paragraph
  • Put your keywords in bold a few times(2-3) through out the text
  • Put some links to similar but high authority sites
  • Make your website relatively fast to load
  • Have a good link structure within your blog or website and have websites with high pagerank link to you so it gives your website importance in the eyes of search engines and therefore good rankings in searches
etc,etc ...and I am skipping a few. But really, I have applied all these tips and still get no search engine traffic, so what is the problem? Well today I have found it!

So the problem I tink was competition!! ... This blog for instance was targetting the keywords "make money online" , a very competitive field. Now don't get me wrong - I love competition, but the problem is my pagerank (the importance of my website through google's eyes) is 1 which is not that bad, but since the term "make money online" is an important one businesswise, the sites with pageranks of 5-6 that are already in the "make money online" field and that are search engine optimized for that term naturally rank way beter than my pagerank 1 blog. So even if i do a better job at optimizing my text and website for the term "make money online" in search engines than those high pagerank sites, they will still rank much higher than me because of the big difference in pagerank.

Now does that mean that this blog is stuck forever without search engine traffic? I think not! ... As time passes and my domain name gets older, and i put on more posts and get more backlinks my pagerank should increase and will make the blog more competitive.

But that's not all, far from it! - According to my theories I can also target a significant number of less popular search terms that are still in the "make money online" niche. One strategy would be to optimize a post for a longer or slightly different keyword phrase that has LESS or NO competition in terms of websites optimizing for that keyword phrase but still with still a respectable volume of searches. My friends, as I am writing this the hair over my arms is lifting up, chicamom85 I KNOW you are reading this, I think this discovery of mine by understanding how search rankings work should and could! definitely get me search engine visitors!!! w000h00!! Right now I feel that the sky is the limit! - Anyway I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it and NEXT post I will be experimenting with those Einstein search engine ranking theories so be sure to stay tuned!

Wow, it has been almost 2 months that I went inactive. Blogging was fun!.. In the last 2 months I enjoyed summer, and also thought about my future. During the time I was away, I made 2-3 dollars I think on my adsense, but best of all, my pagerank went from zero to one! and also I did not loose my subscribers. So far 32$ all time adsense earnings, only 68 to go till paycheck!

I will start putting in effort again, as I think it was worth it so far. Also, I have looked at some blogs of people following this site in google groups, with some of them doing quite well.

If you remember well, I started this blog as an experiment to report on how making money online actually is. It's okay. I have calculated that on average, every visit on this website averages me one to two cents income per visitor and for most sites it should be half a cent or more per unique visitor. So to make 10 bucks a day, I would need around 500-1'000 visitors daily.

...And I will be looking to put more things on this blog. For instance, I would like to hear other experiences from other work at home people. I will now be taking on guest posts. If you have a story to share here, I would gladly add it aswell as a link back to your blog and exposure to readers here. That's one thing. Another one is that I'm even thinking about holding a contest! bye people...hum people? is anyone still around !?!
